‘NCIS’, ‘NCIS: LA’ & ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ All Renewed For New Seasons By CBS

CBS has renewed all three of the current NCIS series, which takes NCIS to Season 20, NCIS: Los Angeles to Season 14, and newcomer NCIS: Hawai’i to Season 2.

The mainNCIS’ show follows the sometimes complex (and sometimes amusing) dynamics of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service team who work together in high-stress situations. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.

The recent 19th Season navigated its way through a major cast change, as lead Mark Harmon (pictured above) left the show to be replaced by Gary Cole’s Special Agent Alden Parker. The renewal is not a great surprise given the show is the USA’s No. 1 most-watched broadcast drama this season. Going into a 20th Season ties it to third place with ‘Gunsmoke’ for the longest-running US primetime drama (those pesky ‘Law & Order: SVU’ and ‘Law & Order’ shows still take the top two spots at the moment!)

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ is a drama about the high-stakes world of a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals, who pose a threat to the nation’s security. By assuming false identities and utilizing the most advanced technology, this team of highly trained agents goes deep undercover, putting their lives on the line in the field to bring down their targets. The series stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille and Gerald McRaney.

Again, not a huge surprise to see it renewed, as the show is currently the most-watched scripted drama on its broadcast day and time period in the USA. It also trends really well on social media for the network, and is about to hit its 300th episode.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ continues the world’s most successful television series on the seductive shores of the island as the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor takes command. She and her team balance duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security, and the mysteries of the island itself. This NCIS: Hawai’i team is a skilled mix of mainland transplants who’ve re-located to the tranquillity of the Pacific and wizened locals who know their mahalo from kapu. Vanessa Lachey, Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Jason Antoon, Tori Anderson and Kian Talan star.

The newcomer to the franchise hit the ground running, and is pretty much tied for the most-watched new drama in the USA spot this season. So again, not a huge shock CBS opted to give it a second season!

“NCIS, one of the most popular and enduring series in the world, and fan favourite NCIS: Los Angeles have been hugely successful on the CBS schedule for years,” commented Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “With the strong new addition of NCIS: Hawai’i, we are able to expand the strength of this formidable franchise across our schedule. We couldn’t be more excited to have all three talented casts and creative teams back to bring more compelling NCIS stories to viewers in the U.S. and around the globe.”

As for the UK…

NCIS‘ Season 19 is now (finally!) set to air on Disney+ from Wednesday, 6th April 2022.

NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Season 13 is due to premiere on Sky Max from May 2022 (no exact date yet), having been bumped from its traditional January slot this year for the final season of the dearly departed ‘NCIS: New Orleans’.

NCIS: Hawai’i‘ still, unfortunately, does not have a UK broadcaster, but we’ll see if this renewal sparks some interest!

If you want to keep track of these, or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
