‘Locke & Key’ To End With Season 3 On Netflix

Supernatural Netflix drama Locke & Key will be ending with the upcoming 3rd Season the producers have announced. This is a creative decision rather than a cancellation.

Based on the best-selling comic book series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez for IDW comics, the series follows the three Locke siblings and their mother who move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, after the death of the father. Once there, they discover the house is full of magical keys that may be connected to their dad’s unfortunate demise. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens – and will stop at nothing to steal them.

“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” said showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill in a statement released on social media. “As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.”

The drama stars Darby Stanchfield (‘Scandal’) as mother Nina Locke, with Jackson Robert Scott (‘IT’ and ‘IT 2’) as Bode Locke, Connor Jessup (‘American Crime’) as Tyler Locke, and Emilia Jones (‘Horrible Histories’) as Kinsey Locke, the three children. Bill Heck (‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’) portrays the father, Rendell Locke, with Petrice Jones (‘Step Up: High Water’) as Scot Cavendish, Thomas Mitchell Barnett as Sam Lesser, Coby Bird as Rufus Whedon, Jesse Camacho (‘Night Owl’) as Doug Brazelle, Asha Bromfield (‘Riverdale’) as Zadie Wells, Griffin Gluck (‘American Vandal’) as Gabe, Hallea Jones (‘Let It Snow’) as Eden, Aaron Ashmore (‘Killjoys’, ‘Designated Survivor’) as Duncan Locke, Liyou Abere as Jamie Bennett and Brendan Hines as Josh Bennett.

From Carlton Cuse (‘Lost’, ‘Bates Motel’) and Meredith Averill (‘The Haunting of Hill House’), ‘Locke & Key’ is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family. The series is written by Joe Hill who co-created the origin comic book with Gabriel Rodriguez. The original comic book, published by IDW Publishing, garnered both awards and acclaim during its ten-year run. It has been translated into dozens of languages across the globe and has sold millions of copies worldwide.

Locke & Key‘ Season 3 is expected to land on Netflix later in 2022. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
