‘First Kill’: YA Vampire Drama Gets Trailer & June Premiere Date On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has released a trailer and June premiere date for First Kill, a YA vampire series based on a short story by New York Times bestselling author Victoria (V. E.) Schwab.

Described by Schwab as “Killing Eve meets Buffy”, ‘First Kill’ follows teenage vampire Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook) as she is about to make her first kill so she can take her place among a powerful vampire family. She sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope (Imani Lewis)…. but much to Juliette’s surprise, Calliope is a vampire hunter from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won’t be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for.

The series also stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Margot Fairmont, Aubin Wise as Talia Burns, Gracie Dzienny as Elinor Fairmont, Dominic Goodman as Apollo Burns, Phillip Mullings Jr. as Theo Burns and Jason R. Moore as Jack Burns.

The eight-episode, one-hour drama was created, written and executive produced by Schwab herself. Felicia D. Henderson, who previously wrote and exec produced on shows such as ‘Fringe’, ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘The Punisher’, serves as showrunner and also writes some episodes. Emma Roberts produces the series via her Belletrist Productions, alongside co-founder, Karah Preiss.

First Kill‘ premieres Friday, 10th June 2022 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
