‘9-1-1’ & ‘The Resident’ Renewed By FOX For 6th Seasons

It took a little while longer than the other shows, but both 9-1-1 & The Resident will be back for 6th Seasons US network FOX has announced.

‘9-1-1’ explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders, including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers, who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations in LA. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from real-life, high-pressure experiences of first responders who regularly face heart-stopping situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.

The series stars Academy and Emmy Award nominee Angela Bassett, Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee Peter Krause and Golden Globe nominee Jennifer Love Hewitt. Additionally, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Ryan Guzman, Rockmond Dunbar, Corinne Massiah, Marcanthonee Jon Reis and Gavin McHugh are featured in series regular roles.

The drama is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear are creators, executive producers and writers on the series. Bradley Buecker is an executive producer and director on the series.

‘The Resident’ continues to shine a light on the daily heroism of our health care workers. The provocative medical drama follows the doctors and nurses at Chastain Memorial Hospital, as they face personal and professional challenges and fight for their patients’ health.

The medical drama stars Matt Czuchry as Conrad Hawkins, Manish Dayal as Devon Pravesh, Bruce Greenwood as Randolph Bell, Jane Leeves as Kit Voss, Malcolm-Jamal Warner as AJ Austin, Jessica Lucas as Billie Sutton and Anuja Joshi as Leela Devi.

Produced by 20th Television, the series’ executive producers include Amy Holden Jones, Peter Elkoff, Andrew Chapman, Rob Corn, Oly Obst, Antoine Fuqua and Marc Halsey.

Earlier today FOX renewed the spin-off series 9-1-1: Lone Star, alongside comedies Call Me Kat & ‘Welcome to Flatch’ (the latter two shows do not air in the UK.) As we exclusively announced last week, ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ is set to move from Sky to Disney+ for Season 3 when it airs in the UK. We don’t yet have a date, other than it is “coming soon”, or whether the main ‘9-1-1’ show will follow suit when the current broadcast contract with Sky is up for renewal.

9-1-1’ airs on Sky Witness & ‘The Resident’ airs on Disney+ in the UK.
