‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke‘ are set to return in the UK as Alibi announces a June premiere date for Season 2.
Kate Phillips (‘Peaky Blinders’) stars as the headstrong, first-ever female detective in Victorian London. Stuart Martin (‘Jamestown’) plays her childhood friend, professional colleague, and potential love interest, Scotland Yard Detective Inspector William Wellington, a.k.a., The Duke.
As we return for season two, it is one month on from the end of the previous series. Eliza has solved her father’s murder, her relationship with William, the Duke, continues to slowly simmer, and Eliza continues to face the challenges of being a professional woman in a male-dominated Victorian London.
In the opening episode, the sister of a missing woman hires Eliza to find her, but the case was already closed by the police – creating new tensions between Eliza and the Duke.
The series also stars Danny Midwinter as Frank Jenkins, Ansu Kabia as Moses, Andrew Gower as Rupert Parker, Matthew Malone as PC Honeychurch, Cathy Belton as Ivy, Kevin Doyle as Henry Scarlet and Simon Ludders as Mr. Potts.
The drama is created and written by Rachael New (‘Grantchester’, ‘The Mallorca Files’), with Ben Edwards (‘Trollied’, ‘Stella’) as a contributing writer. The series is produced by Masterpiece and Element 8 Entertainment.
