‘Snowpiercer’ To End With Season 4

Snowpiercer will be pulling into the station, as US network TNT announce the upcoming 4th Season will be the last.

Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, ‘Snowpiercer’ centres on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out.

“We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT,” commented a spokesperson for the network. “Its talented writers, actors and crew took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. It was critically acclaimed, had a significant impact on the post-apocalyptic genre and now remains in the hearts and minds of fans forever.”

It isn’t entirely clear if this was a creative decision or cancellation from the network, although the series plot had been heading towards a point where the train may no longer be necessary, so this was possibly a natural conclusion. (SPOILERS FOR THE END OF SEASON 3) – After exiling Wilford to the track scaler, Layton and Melanie had given people the choice to either stay on the main part train with Melanie or head off in Big Bertha to find “New Eden” with Layton. Whilst Big Bertha did derail heading around the Horn of Africa, Layton’s group found the outside to be warm enough to support life. Three months later, we cut back to Snowpiercer as Melanie spots a rocket exploding in the distance… Season 4 is currently shooting, so either way, it shouldn’t end on a cliffhanger.

The series stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Rowan Blanchard and Roberto Urbina. New additions for Season 4 include Clark Gregg (‘Agents Of SHIELD’) and Michael Aronov (‘Billions’, ‘The Blacklist’).

‘Snowpiercer’ Season 4 will be executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski, Christoph Schrewe, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Matthew O’Connor, Ben Rosenblatt and Scott Derrickson, and the original film’s producers Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho, Miky Lee, Jinnie Choi, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi. The show is produced by Tomorrow Studios, along with CJ Entertainment. ITV Studios handles international distribution.

Snowpiercer‘ Seasons 1 to 3 can be found on Netflix in the UK. Season 4 does not yet have a premiere date, but is likely to drop in Early 2023. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
