‘Lockwood & Co’ Adaptation Gets First Trailer & January 2023 Premiere Date On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has set a January premiere for their long-gestating adaptation of Jonathan Stroud’s Lockwood & Co, written and directed by Joe Cornish, the streaming service has announced.

In a world plagued by ghosts, where giant corporations employ psychic teens to battle the supernatural, only one company operates without adult supervision, and its name is Lockwood & Co. Run by Anthony Lockwood, a rebellious young entrepreneur haunted by his mysterious past, his brilliant but eccentric sidekick George and a newly arrived, supremely gifted girl called Lucy, this renegade trio are about to unravel a terrifying mystery that will change the course of history.

The series stars Ruby Stokes (‘Bridgerton’) as Lucy Carlyle, Cameron Chapman as Anthony Lockwood, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati (‘Holby City’) as George Karim. Joining them are Ivanno Jeremiah (‘A Discovery of Witches’, ‘Humans’), Jack Bandeira (‘Silent Witness’), Luke Treadaway (‘Fortitude’), Morven Christie (‘The Bay’, ‘Grantchester’), Hayley Konadu (‘Moon Knight’), Rhianna Dorris (‘Secret Life of Boys’), and Paddy Holland (‘Invasion’).

News of an adaptation of ‘Lockwood & Co’ had been around since 2017. However, it was December 2020 when Netflix officially announced they had ordered an eight-episode series, with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block, Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn) set as exec producer, writer and lead director via Complete Fiction, the production company he formed by Nira Park and Edgar Wright. Nira Park and Rachael Prior also exec produce.

Lockwood & Co’ Season 1 premieres Friday, 27th January 2023 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
