‘Cross’: Ryan Eggold & Isaiah Mustafa Join Aldis Hodge In Prime Video’s Alex Cross Series

If you were wondering where Ryan Eggold might be heading when ‘New Amsterdam’ closes its doors early next year, we now have an answer. He, along with Isaiah Mustafa, are heading to Prime Video to join Cross, the upcoming adaptation of James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels starring Aldis Hodge.

‘Cross’ is described as a complex, twisted, pulse-pounding thriller created by producer and writer Ben Watkins, based on the worldwide best-selling Alex Cross book series by James Patterson. Alex Cross is a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify – and ultimately capture – the murderers.

Aldis Hodge (‘Black Adam’, ‘City On A Hill’, ‘One Night In Miami…’) will play the titular character and also serves as a producer on the series. Alex Cross is brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife’s murder has left him too damaged to receive it.

Hodge is joined by Eggold who takes the role of Ed Ramsey. With humble Midwest roots which are the core of his irresistible charm, Ramsey also has elbows sharp enough to carve out space in the elite social and political circles of D.C. and New York. He is as smooth and well-connected as he is devious, and has some very dark secrets. While initially a fan of Cross, Ramsey soon becomes a formidable adversary.

Mustafa takes on the role of John Sampson, aka “Two-John” or “Man-Mountain.” He is Alex’s partner on the force and best friend of 30 years. Full of swagger and larger than life, he believes that Cross is at a crisis point and needs to seek professional help.

Isaiah Mustafa starred as Luke Garroway in the fantasy series ‘Shadowhunters’, and also played the adult version of Mike Hanlon in ‘It Chapter Two’. You may also know him from the ‘Old Spice’ television commercials, or from his former career as an American football player.

Ryan Eggold is currently starring in the medical drama ‘New Amsterdam’ as the loveable Dr. Max Goodwin. The series ends on the current 5th Season, which is due to air on Sky Witness in the UK this December. He previously appeared on ‘The Blacklist’ and the short-lived spin-off series, ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’.

Ben Watkins (‘Hand of God’, ‘Burn Notice’, ‘Truth Be Told’) serves as showrunner and executive produces the series. Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, and Craig Siebels also executive produce, with James Patterson, Bill Robinson, and Patrick Santa executive producing for James Patterson Entertainment, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost executive producing for Skydance Television. Paramount Television Studios also produce.

Cross‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Prime Video worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
