‘Invincible’ Season 2 Gets A Meta-Teaser From Prime Video, Premiering “Late 2023”

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has released a rather meta-joke teaser for Season 2 of the brilliant animated series Invincible, revealing that the show will drop “more or less” in “late 2023″…

‘Invincible’ follows the story of Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), a regular teenager whose father just so happens to be the most powerful superhero in the world, Omni-Man (J. K. Simmon). Shortly after his 17th birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own and enters into his father’s tutelage, only to discover that Omni-Man’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems…

In the clip above, we see Yeun’s Grayson tucking into some burgers at Burger Mart, along with Seth Rogen’s (‘The Lion King’) Allen the Alien. In a very meta-conversation, they discuss how “it’s been a while” since anyone has seen Invincible…

The series, which comes from ‘The Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, was renewed back in 2021 for two more seasons. Unfortunately, animation does take a while to do, but hopefully, that double renewal means the gap between the second and third seasons will be shorter.

The first season saw a number of TWD castmates join Yeun on the series, with Khary Payton voicing Black Samson, Lauren Cohan as War Woman, Sonequa Martin-Green as Green Ghost, Chad Coleman as Martian Man, Michael Cudlitz as Red Rush, Lennie James as Darkwing, and brilliant voice actor and mimic Ross Marquand voicing both The Immortal and Aquarius. They are all members of Guardians of the Globe, the world’s premiere superhero team.

Non ‘Walking Dead’ cast included Zazie Beetz (Domino in ‘Deadpool 2’) as Amber Bennett, the girlfriend of Mark Grayson/Invincible (Yeun); Andrew Rannells (‘Girls’) who plays Mark’s best friend William Clockwell; Walton Goggins (‘Justified’) as government liaison Cecil Stedman; The legendary Mark Hamill (‘Star Wars’) as superhero tailor Art; Gillian Jacobs (‘Community’) as superhero Atom Eve; Jason Mantzoukas (‘Big Mouth’) as Rex Splode; Seth Rogen (‘The Lion King’) as Allen the Alien; And Star Trek’s Michael Dorn as Battle Beast.

Simon Racioppa (‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’) is showrunner and exec produces the series alongside Kirkman, David Alpert and Catherine Winder, with supervising directors Justin & Chris Copeland (‘Avengers Assemble’, ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’). Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment produces the show alongside Point Grey Pictures.

Invincible‘ Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date, but will drop in “late 2023” on Prime Video. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
