‘Yellowstone’ Prequel ‘1923’ Renewed For Season 2 On Paramount+

Some good news for fans of the ‘Yellowstone’ universe. The Prequel series, 1923, has been renewed for a 2nd Season Paramount+ has announced before the drama returns next week for part two of season one.

From Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, ‘1923’ is the next instalment of the ‘Yellowstone’ origin story and introduced a new generation of Duttons. Led by Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton and Academy Award winner Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton, the series explores the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.

The series began back in December last year on Paramount+, and has proved to be a hit, however, that does not seem to be the reason for the renewal. It appears to have more to do with the fact Sheridan didn’t feel he could complete the story he wanted to tell in one season, so he requested a second season. Paramount, of course, said yes, given the drama has been doing great numbers across the streaming service and linear broadcast in the USA.

In addition to Ford and Mirren, the series also stars Brandon Sklenar (“The Offer”), Darren Mann (“Animal Kingdom”), Michelle Randolph (“A Snow White Christmas”), James Badge Dale (“Hightown”), Marley Shelton (“Scream”), Brian Geraghty (“Big Sky”), Aminah Nieves (“Blueberry”), Julia Schlaepfer (“The Politician”) and Jerome Flynn (“Game of Thrones”).

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, ‘1923’ is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson.

1923‘ returns for Season 1, Part 2 on Monday, 6th February 2023 on Paramount+ UK (Sunday, Feb 5th, 2023 on Paramount+ in the USA).
