‘Blue Bloods’ Renewed For Season 14
The world’s greatest acting moustache will stay employed for another year, as CBS announces ‘Blue Bloods‘ has been renewed for Season 14.
The police procedural drama follows a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is the New York Police Commissioner and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood. He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry (Len Cariou), during his stint as Chief.
The rest of the family consists of Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), a seasoned detective, family man and Iraq War vet who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner, Detective Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez); Erin (Bridget Moynahan), a New York Assistant D.A. who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father, as well as a single parent to her teenage daughter, Nicky (Sami Gayle); Jamie (Will Estes) who gave up a lucrative future in law and follow in the family footsteps as a cop; And Eddie (Vanessa Ray), his female partner who keeps him on his toes.
“Blue Bloods has dominated Friday nights since its premiere and remained an important anchor for CBS’ winning lineup,” commented CBS Entertainment chief Amy Reisenbach. “Led by the outstanding Tom Selleck, and an incredible cast and creative team, viewers continue to embrace the Reagans, their law enforcement family, and the series’ dramatic storytelling.”
‘Blue Bloods’ was one of three shows which had been conspicuously missing from CBS’s renewals, along with ‘SWAT’ and ‘East New York’. As an ageing show with a large series regular cast, negotiations had been tricky, with CBS looking to make some fairly dramatic cuts to the budget to make the numbers add up. It seems the cast and producers have agreed to salary reductions which allowed for the renewal and will see all the cast return to the police drama for another patrol. Negotiations are still ongoing for ‘SWAT’ and ‘East New York’.
