The wonderful entertaining (and slightly bonkers) ‘La Brea‘ will return this April on Paramount+ UK, with all 7 remaining episodes of Season 2 dropping as a box set.
Season 2 continues the epic, time-travelling adventure that began when a massive sinkhole opened in Los Angeles, plunging people into a mysterious primaeval land where they must unite for survival. This season began with the Harris family – Gavin and Eve and their kids Izzy and Josh – still finding themselves separated across parallel worlds.
In 10,000 BC, Eve was determined to find a way to reunite with Josh, who accidentally went through a portal to the year 1988 (as you do…). But unbeknownst to Eve, Gavin and Izzy had travelled from the modern world to prehistoric Seattle and were now embarking on a dangerous journey to L.A. so they can get their family back together.
When we left our gang at the end of Part One, the Harris family was reunited in 1988, however, decided the only way to stop the sinkholes was by going back again to 10,000 B.C. The family, along with Sam and Riley leap back in the hole, whilst Levi elected to stay behind in 1988. Ominously, just before they jumped, Gavin had a vision of Eve dying in his arms…
The cast includes Natalie Zea (‘Justified’, ‘The Following’, ‘The Unicorn’), Eoin Macken (‘Merlin’, The Night Shift’), Nicholas Gonzalez (‘The Good Doctor’) as Levi, Chiké Okonkwo (‘Being Mary Jane’) as Ty, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin (‘All Rise’), Veronica St. Clair (’13 Reasons Why’), Rohan Mirchandaney (‘Hotel Mumbai’), Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie (‘Filthy Rich’), Tonantzin Carmelo and Michelle Vergara Moore.
On a side note, ‘La Brea’ has been renewed for Season 3, however, there is a slight caveat to that… Due to various potential upcoming strike actions by the writers, directors, and actors guilds in the US, NBC has only ordered six episodes for the third season. This presented a problem to the production, as the actors have a contract which says they have to be paid for ten episodes, regardless of whether they shoot them all. Because of this, the producers asked the actors to agree to only be paid for those six episodes, and in return, they would release them from their contracts to allow them to pursue other work. The actors agreed to those terms. The upshot of that move is Season 3 will most likely be the final season. There is some small possibility the drama could continue, but if it did, it would likely be with a new cast and new characters.
Writer David Appelbaum (‘NCIS: New Orleans’) executive produces the series with Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Steven Lilien, Bryan Wynbrandt, Ken Woodruff, Arika Lisanne Mittman, Adam Davidson and Chris Hollier.
‘La Brea’ is produced by Universal Television and Australia’s Matchbox Pictures, both divisions of Universal Studio Group, in association with Keshet Studios.
‘La Brea‘ Season 2, Part 2 premieres Thursday, 27th April 2023 on Paramount+ UK, with all 7 episodes dropping as a box set.
