We’ve no idea who she’s playing, or whether she will be helping or hindering the Hawkins residents, but she apparently loved the show and is excited to join the final season. “I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” she added. “I’m gonna work on that.”

Squid Game Casting & The Competition Spin-Off

This year, the smash hit tv series, based on a deadly gameshow becomes (a hopefully rather less deadly!) competition series spin-off, and Netflix dropped a “first look”:

They also announced stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo will all be returning for Squid Game Season 2, along with revealing four new actors joining the cast:

‘Cobra Kai’ Prepares For Its 6th & Final Season

Whilst there was no date announcement or trailer for the final 6th Season of Cobra Kai, Netflix did release a little video of the cast reuniting for a table read of the script.

The most recent 5th Season followed the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, and found Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso had to call on an old friend for help.

Netflix Introduces ‘The Archies’ Film

We’ve had the “adult” version of Archie comic with ‘Riverdale’, but now ‘The Archies’ movie offers a different variation set in 1960s India. From director/producer Zoya Akhtar (Lust Stories) the film reimagines the classic Archie Comics, transposing the gang to an Anglo-Indian hill station (a high-elevation town overlooking a valley) in the year 1964, the year of Rock & Roll, Skates & Shakes, and Love & Heartbreak. No date for this yet, but it is “coming soon” to Netflix.

As we return for season two, Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) navigate their new relationship, whilst Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) face unforeseen challenges and Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) work out if they can ever be more than just friends. Set against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt or to fight against the invasion. The series premieres in January 2024.

The Witcher, Season 3 – New Clip

The Witcher‘ Season 3, Volume 1 premieres Thursday, 29th June 2023, but to get you in the mood, stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey introduced a new clip of the upcoming season, which sees Cavill return as Geralt for the last time before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role in Season 4.

The third season sees monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture Ciri of Cintra. Geralt takes her into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusting with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers… Instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.

Outer Banks – The Pogues Get Ready For OBX4

No date or actual trailer for Outer Banks‘ Season 4, but a rather cute little clip of Chase Stokes (John B.), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Carlacia Grant (Cleo), and Rudy Pankow (JJ) “getting ready” for the new season…

Live-Action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ – Photos

There’s no trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, however, they did release some photos of the cast, and the costumes do look pretty good! The plotline is the same as the beloved animated series – “Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, can stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed, and my brother [Sokka] and I [Katara] discovered the new Avatar: an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.”

The series will premiere in 2024, and whilst Netflix doesn’t have a great track record so far with live-action remakes of beloved anime, I think everyone has their fingers crossed for this. The general consensus seems to be “well, it can’t be worse than the live-action movie…”

Live-Action ‘ONE PIECE’ – Trailer

The other big live-action anime series One Piece will premiere Thursday, 31st August 2023, and this one does have a trailer! The series follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who, inspired by his childhood idol and powerful pirate “Red-Haired” Shanks, sets off on a journey from the East Blue Sea to find the titular treasure and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates. Putting together his crew, the “Straw Hat Pirates”, the gang experiences crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling powerful enemies, all in order to reach the most coveted of all fortunes – One Piece.

So that’s all we have from Netflix’s Tudum Fan Event.

Feel a bit of a pedant pointing this out, but ATLA isn’t anime. Whilst (obviously) thematically Asian, it’s American (produced by Nickelodeon).
