‘For All Mankind’ Season 4 Trailer Lands, Premiering November On Apple TV+

Award-winning series from creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi returns

by Dave Elliott

Apple TV+ has released the full trailer for the brilliant alt-history space drama For All Mankind Season 4, which premieres this November on the streaming service.

The hit, critically acclaimed space drama series from Golden Globe nominee and Emmy Award winner Ronald D. Moore and Emmy Award nominees Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended. The series presents an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the centre of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline – a world in which the USSR beats the US to the moon.

Rocketing into the new millennium in the eight years since season three, Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners. Now 2003, the focus of the space program has turned to the capture and mining of extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working toward.

The ensemble cast returning for season four includes Joel Kinnaman, Wrenn Schmidt, Krys Marshall, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu and Coral Peña along with new series regulars Toby Kebbell, Tyner Rushing, Daniel Stern and Svetlana Efremova.

Whilst not confirmed, it is entirely possible this could be Kinnaman’s final season on the drama if it returns for Season 5. His character, Ed Baldwin, is getting on in years, and can be seen very much aged up in this trailer. Given the show tends to jump forward a decade or so each season, Ed would likely be in his 80s next season, so could still be around, but is unlikely to be zipping around in space. Kinnaman is one of the few season one cast left on the show, but as we said from the beginning, it was inevitable, given the series jumps through time, that the lead cast would have to change. Overall, the show has handled the introduction of younger characters to take over the leading roles well, and it is one of the things that makes it such a unique drama.

‘For All Mankind’ is created by Emmy Award winner Moore, and Emmy nominees Nedivi and Wolpert. Nedivi and Wolpert serve as showrunners and executive produce alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein. The drama is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

For All Mankind‘ Season 4 premieres Friday, 10th November 2023 on Apple TV+ UK and worldwide.
