The BBC has released the first trailer for ‘Boat Story‘, a dark comedic thriller starring Daisy Haggard (Back to Life, Breeders) and Paterson Joseph (Vigil, Noughts & Crosses).
At its core, ‘Boat Story’ is a thriller with a darkly comic heart about two ordinary people whom the world has turned its back on, and whether they’re willing – or desperate enough – to do something crazy to get what they want in life. Pushed to the very edge, can they trust each other and get away with their lives and the money?
The trailer features our unsuspecting leads Janet (Haggard) and Samuel (Joseph) who encounter a haul of illegal drugs found on a shipwrecked boat. The pair can’t believe their luck as they agree to sell it and split the cash. But quickly Janet and Samuel find themselves entangled with police, hitmen, and a sharp-suited gangster known as ‘The Tailor’ (Tcheky Karyo – Baptiste, The Missing).
‘Boat Story’ embodies twists and turns with character-driven, surprising storytelling. Off-beat humour contrasts with high-octane action sequences against the spectacular backdrop of the beautiful, windswept Yorkshire coastline.
Alongside Haggard, Joseph and Karyo, the series also stars Joanna Scanlan (After Love, Notes on A Scandal), Craig Fairbrass (One Piece, Villain and Muscle) and Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, House of the Dragon).
‘Boat Story’ is a Two Brothers Pictures (an All3Media company) production for the BBC. The series is written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing, Baptiste, The Tourist), who alongside Christopher Aird (Baptiste, Liar, The Tourist), Sarah Hammond (Back to Life, Fleabag) and Daniel Walker (The Tourist) serve as executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures, with Tommy Bulfin and Nawfal Faizullah as executive producers for the BBC. Matthew Bird (Isolation Stories, Strangers) is producer, and Harry and Jack Williams directed block one. Alice Troughton directed block two and Daniel Nettheim directed block three. International sales are handled by All3Media International.
‘Boat Story‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but is “coming soon” to BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, and on Amazon Freevee in the USA and Germany. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
