The OG ‘Law & Order‘ returns to the UK this January, as 5USA sets a premiere date for Season 23.
Dick Wolf’s ‘Law & Order’ has a unique bifurcated format of police procedural and legal drama and is known for its ripped-from-the-headline stories. Set and filmed in New York City, the first half is a murder investigation and apprehension of a suspect by NYPD detectives while the second half is the prosecution of the defendant by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
The 23rd Season stars Reid Scott as Junior Detective Vincent Riley, Mehcad Brooks as Senior Detective Jalen Shaw
Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Kate Dixon, Hugh Dancy as Executive Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price, Odelya Halevi as Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun, Sam Waterston as District Attorney Jack McCoy, and Tony Goldwyn as District Attorney Nicholas Baxter.
As you can see from the cast list, there have been a few changes. Jeffrey Donovan, who played Detective Frank Cosgrove, has left the drama, with Reid Scott (Veep) stepping in. Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) also joins the show, replacing long-running cast member Sam Waterston, who has decided to leave. This season is also a shorter run of 13 episodes due to the WGA/SAG strikes.
Dick Wolf executive produces the series, with longtime collaborator Rick Eid (‘Law & Order’, ‘Law & Order: SVU’, ‘FBI’, ‘Chicago P.D.’) as writer and showrunner. Wolf Entertainment’s Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski also exec produce with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, producing the show in association with Wolf Entertainment.
‘Law & Order‘ Season 23 is set to premiere on Tuesday, 21st January 2025 at 9pm on 5USA in the UK.
