Sky has released the official trailer for Mountainhead, from Succession creator Jesse Armstrong, starring Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Cory Michael Smith, and Ramy Youssef, premiering this June in the UK.
Written, directed, and executive produced by the seven-time Emmy winner and Oscar nominee, Mountainhead brings his signature blend of biting humour and social critique to a fresh, standalone story. This time, the targets are the obscenely rich and powerful, and what happens when their carefully constructed world starts to unravel.
In the newly released trailer (which you can watch above), viewers are introduced to four tech billionaires enjoying an extravagant ski retreat. Played by Steve Carell (The Office, The Morning Show), Jason Schwartzman (Fargo, The French Dispatch), Cory Michael Smith (Gotham, May December), and Ramy Youssef (Ramy, Poor Things), the group is seen indulging in luxury, ego, and banter, trading barbed insults, flaunting their vast fortunes, and reveling in their elite status against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains and fresh powder.
But beneath the camaraderie, cracks begin to show. As news breaks of mounting global chaos, including explosive violence reportedly linked to a social media algorithm created by Smith’s character, Venis. While Venis dismisses the reports, the others begin to reckon with the potential fallout of their unchecked power.
Carell’s character, Randall, steps up to propose that they use their vast resources to fix the broken world… after all, why not just buy the solution? But Youssef’s character Jeff offers a cutting reality check: “The world wants your algorithm to stop being racist and sh—y.” Suddenly, their alpine playground starts to feel more like a glasshouse on the brink.
With a powerhouse cast and a creative team stacked with Succession veterans — including Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod, and Jill Footlick — Mountainhead is shaping up to be one of the sharpest, most timely satires of the year.
Mountainhead premieres Sunday, 1st June 2025 exclusively in the UK on Sky and NOW. It debuts Saturday, May 31, at 8/7c on HBO and Max in the USA.
