Marvel Television’s upcoming series ‘Wonder Man’, premiering this December on Disney+, will bring back a familiar face from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Arian Moayed (Succession, Inventing Anna) is set to feature prominently as Agent P. Cleary of the Department of Damage Control (DODC), marking his third appearance in the Marvel world.
Moayed first portrayed the no-nonsense federal agent in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), where he launched a full-scale investigation into Peter Parker following the public reveal of his identity. Armed with a federal warrant, Cleary led a raid on the Parker residence, taking Peter into custody and confiscating Stark tech, including the Iron Spider nanotech chamber. He didn’t stop there, detaining May Parker, Michelle Jones, and Ned Leeds for questioning as well.
In a series of intense interrogations, Cleary deployed manipulation and pressure tactics to turn Peter’s friends against him. He tried to shame May for enabling vigilante behaviour, cornered Ned into confessing prior involvement with the Vulture, and suggested MJ was throwing away her future by supporting Parker. Despite his efforts, all charges were ultimately dropped thanks to legal help from Matt Murdock.
Moayed returned as Cleary in Ms. Marvel (2022), operating from the DODC Field Office. After a powered individual appeared at New Jersey’s AvengerCon, Cleary ordered the pursuit of the mysterious enhanced teen, later revealed to be Kamala Khan. Although initially measured in his response, he was later forced to reprimand fellow agent Sadie Deever for staging an unauthorised raid on a high school, relieving her of duty and taking over the fallout.
‘Wonder Man’ stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Aquaman) as Simon Williams, an actor caught between fame and superpowered chaos in a world where the line between Hollywood and heroism is thin. Described as a “love letter to filmmaking and acting,” the series also sees Sir Ben Kingsley return as the ever-unpredictable Trevor Slattery.
The series is created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: Brand New Day), who also directs multiple episodes, with Andrew Guest (Hawkeye) serving as head writer.
Best known for his role as Stewy Hosseini in HBO’s Succession, Arian Moayed is an Emmy and Tony-nominated actor with credits including Love Life, You Hurt My Feelings, House of Spoils, and Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth. He’ll next appear in season two of Netflix’s hit romantic comedy Nobody Wants This.
