‘Tulsa King’ is expanding into a full-blown franchise, and Paramount+ is bringing out the big guns. Samuel L. Jackson has officially signed on to star in ‘NOLA King‘, his first-ever lead television role. The new spin-off series will launch off the back of Tulsa King Season 3, where Jackson’s character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., will first be introduced.
From franchise creator Taylor Sheridan and executive producers Sylvester Stallone and David C. Glasser, NOLA King follows Washington Jr., a former inmate who spent ten years in prison alongside Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. Initially sent to Tulsa by New York’s Renzetti crime family to take Dwight out, Washington instead becomes inspired by what Dwight built, prompting him to return to New Orleans to reconnect with his past and rebuild a life of his own. But doing so puts him in the crosshairs of both old allies and dangerous enemies, from NYC mobsters to NOLA’s criminal underworld and corrupt cops.
“Samuel L. Jackson brings unparalleled presence and global appeal,” said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global, noting the decision to expand Tulsa King into a family-driven franchise anchored by Jackson’s “dynamic, layered performance.”
Stallone added, “Chris McCarthy came to me with a game-changing idea… I was immediately on board. Sam Jackson is the only choice to anchor this new adventure in NOLA.”
Tulsa King became Paramount+’s #1 global original in 2024 and ranked among the top 10 shows across all streaming platforms in Q4 of that year. With NOLA King, the streamer looks to double down on the gritty, character-driven storytelling that made the original such a breakout hit.
The new series is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Sylvester Stallone, Samuel L. Jackson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox, and is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.
‘NOLA King‘ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Paramount+ globally. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.

Thinking the same as I read this. I mean, it wasn’t the best, and could be possibly described as forgettable, but maybe not so literally.
