‘And Just Like That…’ To End With Season 3, Gets Two-Part Series Finale

by Dave Elliott

And Just Like That… is coming to an end, as HBO Max confirms the ‘Sex and the City’ sequel series will wrap up with its ongoing third season. The 12-episode run will now conclude with a two-part series finale, officially bringing the story of Carrie Bradshaw and friends to a close.

Showrunner Michael Patrick King shared the news in a statement:

“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12. SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”

Premiering in December 2021, ‘And Just Like That…’ reunited audiences with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) as they navigated friendship, love, and life in their fifties in New York City. It also introduced new characters, expanding the world originally created by Darren Star in the hit HBO series ‘Sex and the City’, which ran from 1998 to 2004 and spawned two feature films.

The revival series initially split opinion among long-time fans, but its mix of nostalgic callbacks, fresh storytelling, and high-profile guest stars has kept audiences tuning in. Season 3 has been well-received, with critics noting that the show has found a more comfortable balance between revisiting its roots and telling new stories.

While the decision to end the series may disappoint some viewers, King’s comments suggest that the creative team wanted to wrap things up on their own terms, crafting a proper conclusion for Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and the extended cast of characters.

And Just Like That…’ Season 3 is currently airing on Sky Comedy and streaming on NOW in the UK. In the US, the series streams on HBO Max.
