Channel 4 has released a first look clip and image for its upcoming sketch show ‘Mitchell And Webb Are Not Helping’, which sees David Mitchell (Peep Show, Back) and Robert Webb (Peep Show, Back) make a much-anticipated return to the genre that first brought them fame.
This bold new six-part series combines the BAFTA-winning duo with a fresh wave of comedic talent, creating a multigenerational mix of writers and performers. Joining them on-screen are Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats), Lara Ricote (Live at the Apollo), Stevie Martin (Starstruck, Breeders), and Krystal Evans (Comedy Underground, Scot Squad), alongside a team of established and emerging comedy writers.
The newly released clip features some hilariously overzealous Airport Security Officers dealing with a very flustered passenger (played by David Mitchell). As someone who has just come back from holiday, I feel this in my very soul…

Produced by That Mitchell & Webb Company in association with Big Talk Studios (Friday Night Dinner, Back), the series is helmed by long-time collaborator Gareth Edwards and promises a lively blend of sharp satire, surrealism, and the trademark dry wit Mitchell & Webb are known for.
David Mitchell and Robert Webb said:
“When Channel 4 asked us to do another sketch show we were startled, bemused and available. It’s a perilous time for the industry and so it’s our hope that relaunching the trickiest genre of comedy is a brilliant piece of counterintuitive commissioning… We’re looking forward to working with our brilliant new cast despite their youth and talent and would like to encourage viewers to watch the advert break carefully and do their best to buy something. It doesn’t have to be a car but, you know, a box of chocolates or an app or something.”
Kiell Smith-Bynoe added:
“Getting to join this project with comedy legends Mitchell & Webb feels like getting to sit on the grown-ups table that you’ve been trying to get on for years, then you realise the grown-ups are just as funny, silly and they’ll let you have a sip of Advocaat. I’m really excited to be a part of this long-awaited return of comedy royalty.”
Lara Ricote, Stevie Martin, and Krystal Evans also expressed their excitement, calling the project “a dream,” “absolutely wild,” and “an actual dream come true (with free biscuits).”
Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, said:
“Sketch is back baby. We’re so honoured to be working with David, Robert and their contemporaries, alongside an exceptional collective of newer voices both on and off screen. Sketch shows have historically been the bedrock of generations of comedy writers and performers… It’s been such a sparky and joyous journey making this show so far and we can’t wait for audiences to see it.”
‘Mitchell And Webb Are Not Helping’ is a 6 episode series commissioned by Charlie Perkins and Joe Hullait for Channel 4, with executive producers Kenton Allen, David Mitchell, and Robert Webb.
Mitchell & Webb are no strangers to Channel 4 audiences. Their cult hit ‘Peep Show’ ran for nine series, becoming the channel’s longest-running sitcom and remaining one of the most-watched comedies on streaming. Their earlier sketch series ‘That Mitchell & Webb Look’ also cemented them as two of Britain’s sharpest comedic voices.
‘Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping’ does not yet have an exact premiere date but will air on Channel 4 in September 2025 in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
