Prime Video has unveiled first-look images and details for the second season of its smash-hit video game adaptation ‘Fallout’, which will hit screens globally this December.
Based on the legendary video game franchise, ‘Fallout’ tells a story of haves and have-nots in a world where there’s almost nothing left. Two centuries after the bombs fell, the once-cosseted residents of luxury fallout shelters are forced back to the surface, only to find a strange, violent, and darkly funny universe waiting for them.
Season 2 picks up in the wake of the explosive finale of the first run, thrusting viewers into the Mojave wasteland and the dazzling, dangerous heart of post-apocalyptic New Vegas. The series is set in the year 2296, placing it chronologically after the events of both the Fallout: New Vegas (2281) and Fallout 4 (2287) video games. Season 1 spans about a year, ending in 2297, so when our characters reach New Vegas, it will be over a decade since the events of the beloved Obsidian-developed RPG.
That creates plenty of intrigue. In the game, New Vegas’ fate depended heavily on player choices, with multiple possible rulers. Mr. House, Caesar’s Legion, the NCR, or even the Courier themselves. The show obviously can’t mirror every ending, but fans will be watching closely to see which path the writers choose as canon. Will remnants of Caesar’s Legion still haunt the Mojave? Is the New California Republic still battling for control? Or will a new power have risen in the vacuum? The chance to explore a live-action version of these factions, or at least hints of them, is a huge draw for long-time players.
The ensemble cast returns with Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Sweetpea), Aaron Moten (Emancipation, Father Stu), Walton Goggins (The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), and Frances Turner (The Boys).
Behind the camera, the series continues to be shepherded by Kilter Films, with executive producers Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham, alongside showrunners and creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner. Legendary game director Todd Howard and James Altman also executive produce for Bethesda.
‘Fallout’ Season 1 is available to stream now on Prime Video, so if you need to catch up before venturing into New Vegas, you’ve got time to bunker down.
‘Fallout’ Season 2 premieres in December 2025 on Prime Video. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
