Netflix has poured the first details (and photos) for ‘House of Guinness‘, the new drama series from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, arriving this Autumn.
‘House of Guinness’ follows the heirs of the Guinness dynasty in 1860s Dublin and New York as they inherit a brewing empire and face the intoxicating mix of power, family, and ambition. The series transports viewers back to 19th-century Dublin and New York, telling an epic story inspired by the world-famous Guinness dynasty. It begins just after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man who built the brewery into a global powerhouse, and follows the lives of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as they inherit both fortune and responsibility.
Knight teases that brothers Arthur and Edward are at the “heart” of the story:
“Before he died, their father very deliberately chained Arthur and Edward together in responsibility for the brewery. You’ll find out why when you watch.”
The cast of House of Guinness
The all-star cast includes Anthony Boyle (Masters of the Air, Manhunt) as Arthur Guinness, Louis Partridge (Pistol, Enola Holmes) as Edward Guinness, Emily Fairn (The Responder, Black Mirror: Demon 79) as Anne Plunket (née Guinness), and Fionn O’Shea (Normal People, Dance First) as Benjamin Guinness.
They are joined by James Norton (Happy Valley, Bob Marley: One Love) as Sean Rafferty, Niamh McCormack (Everything Now) as Ellen Cochrane, Seamus O’Hara (Blue Lights) as Patrick Cochrane, Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) as John Potter, Dervla Kirwan (True Detective: Night Country) as Aunt Agnes Guinness, Danielle Galligan (Shadow and Bone) as Lady Olivia Hedges, David Wilmot (Station Eleven) as Bonnie Champion, Jessica Reynolds (Kneecap) as Lady Christine O’Madden, Ann Skelly (The Nevers) as Adelaide Guinness, Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones) as Byron Hedges, and many more.
Knight describes the Guinness heirs as “naturally wild,” adding:
“I’m just in awe of their zest for life, their lust for life, often literally. It’s the extraordinary story of a family who happens to be the inheritors of the biggest brewery in the world.”
First photos released
Alongside the announcement, Netflix has unveiled the first images from the show, offering a glimpse of the lavish yet turbulent world of the Guinness family. The shots highlight both the grandeur of Dublin high society and the darker struggles facing the siblings as they attempt to uphold their father’s legacy.

The series is created and executive produced by Steven Knight, with Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland, and Ivana Lowell also serving as EPs. Shankland directs four episodes, with Mounia Akl helming two. It is produced by Kudos, the team behind Knight’s SAS: Rogue Heroes.
Knight says Kudos approached him with the project:
“They thought this project might be of interest to me since I’m interested in beer. And my answer was, ‘Yes, definitely!’”
