ITV has confirmed that the highly anticipated heist drama ‘Frauds‘, starring Suranne Jones (Vigil, Gentleman Jack, Doctor Foster) and Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Time), will premiere this October on ITV1 and ITVX.
The six-part drama will launch on Sunday, 5th October 2025 at 9pm, airing on Sunday and Monday nights for three consecutive weeks. For those who prefer to binge, all episodes will also be made available to stream on ITVX from launch day.
‘Frauds’ brings together Jones and Whittaker on screen for the first time as Bert and Sam, two con women whose toxic yet darkly funny friendship is reignited for one last job. When Bert is released from prison on compassionate grounds, she calls on Sam to help her pull off the art heist of the century. As the duo recruits a team of outcasts to plan the daring theft, their own power struggle threatens to bring everything crashing down.
The series blends tense crime drama with emotional depth, exploring how friendship, guilt, and betrayal can be just as dangerous as the heist itself. Filmed against the dramatic landscapes of southern Spain, ‘Frauds’ promises both sun-soaked backdrops and the darker shadows of the criminal underworld.
Suranne Jones, who also serves as Executive Producer and co-creator, said:
“Working on Frauds with Anne-Marie and Monumental for the last 2 years has been a wild ride. We took the idea of toxic female friendship and turned it on its head to give the heist genre an emotional heartbeat. I have always wanted to work with Jodie, and now I am. I hope you love Bert and Sam and all they get up to as much as we do.”
The drama was created by Jones and Anne-Marie O’Connor (Maryland, Hullraisers, Trollied) and is produced by Monumental Television (The Marlow Murder Club, Ghosts, Harlots) in association with ITV Studios. Giulia Gandini (The Split, Shetland) directs, with Pat Tookey-Dickson (Toxic Town, 1899, Ghosts) as producer. Executive producers include Alison Owen, Katie Kelly, Debra Hayward, Alison Carpenter, Jill Forbes, Anne-Marie O’Connor, and Suranne Jones for TeamAkers.
Helen Ziegler, Senior Drama Commissioning Editor at ITV, added:
“We are delighted to be working with Suranne, Anne Marie and the brilliant team at Monumental on their unique take on a heist show. At its heart this is a story of a complex, surprising friendship, which asks if Sam and Bert can pull together for one last job, or whether the past will derail them. Suranne and Jodie are two incredible actors and it’ll be thrilling to see what they bring to the central characters.”
‘Frauds‘ Season 1 premieres Sunday, 5th October 2025 at 9pm on ITV1, with episodes airing Sundays and Mondays for three weeks. All episodes will also be available that same day on ITVX.
