Prime Video is kicking off 2026 with something sharp, tense and very steal-able, as the streamer unveils our first look at the brand new thriller ‘Steal‘, arriving this January. The six-part series brings together a cracking cast, a locked-down office heist, and enough moral murkiness to keep your popcorn hand suspended mid-air.
Starring Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, The Staircase), Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (Bodies, The Queen’s Gambit), and Archie Madekwe (Saltburn, Gran Turismo), ‘Steal’ drops viewers straight into a chaotic day at Lochmill Capital, a seemingly ordinary pension fund investment firm. Routine spreadsheets become survival tactics when a gang of armed thieves storms the office and forces Zara, played by Turner, into the centre of their plan.
From here, the show pivots into a contemporary, high-octane thriller about who is stealing billions of pounds of everyday pension savings and why. It’s the sort of crime where the victims might never even know they were robbed, which gives the whole thing a pointed, modern edge.
Turner’s Zara isn’t the only one pulled into the blast radius. Her colleague and best mate Luke is played by Archie Madekwe, who’s rapidly becoming one of the most interesting young actors in the UK. On the other side of the investigation sits DCI Rhys, played by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, battling his own relapsed gambling addiction while navigating a tangle of competing agendas. Rhys’ personal debt becomes an intriguing pressure point, giving the detective storyline more grit than a standard police-procedural backbone.
Behind the scenes, the series comes from executive producers Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza, with Nuala O’Leary producing for Amazon MGM Studios and Drama Republic, the company behind Doctor Foster, The Lovers, The English, and Netflix’s One Day. Drama Republic has always had a knack for character-driven tension, and ‘Steal’ looks like it shares that DNA, just with a few more balaclavas.
Prime Video has also released a set of first-look images which set the tone beautifully: frantic office corridors, tense standoffs, and Turner’s Zara caught between fear and resolve. It already feels like something that could land in the same orbit as Inside Man or Hijack, only with the financial-sector twist.
In short, it’s looking very promising and very bingeable.
