We now come to the final of the more overtly “geeky” categories in the Geektown Awards 2025, with Best Comicbook/Superhero Series.
As with last year, new and returning shows once again went head-to-head in a single category. While the genre has gone through a period of recalibration recently, the results make it clear that there’s still plenty of appetite for superhero storytelling — particularly when it leans into strong characters and darker, more mature themes.
Here’s how you voted.
Best Comicbook/Superhero Series
Nominees:
Creature Commandos, Season 1 – Sky Max
Daredevil: Born Again, Season 1 – Disney+
Gen V, Season 2 – Prime Video
Invincible, Season 3 – Prime Video
Ironheart, Season 1 – Disney+
Marvel Zombies, Season 1 – Disney+
Peacemaker, Season 2 – Sky Max / NOW
Bronze: Peacemaker, Season 2 – Sky Max / NOW
Silver: Marvel Zombies, Season 1 – Disney+
Gold Winner: Daredevil: Born Again, Season 1 – Disney+
Taking just under a quarter of the vote, Daredevil: Born Again emerged as Geektown readers’ favourite comicbook series of the year.
The long-awaited return of Matt Murdock clearly paid off, with the series striking a balance between the darker tone fans loved from the original run and a renewed sense of purpose within the wider Marvel TV landscape. The result was enough to see it comfortably claim the top spot in a tightly contested category.
Close behind, Marvel Zombies and Peacemaker were separated by the narrowest of margins, underlining just how competitive the race was for the remaining podium places. Meanwhile, strong showings from Gen V and Invincible once again demonstrate that Prime Video continues to be a major force in adult-leaning superhero television.
While last year saw The Boys dominate this category, 2025’s results suggest a genre in transition, with audiences rewarding series that take creative risks while still respecting their comicbook roots.
More Geektown Awards 2025 results are coming very soon, as we continue to reveal the TV shows, films, and games that made the biggest impression on Geektown readers over the past year.
