Netflix has officially revealed a substantial portion of its 2026 lineup, confirming a packed year ahead that blends long-running fan favourites, prestige drama, genre-heavy new series, and a slate of films stacked with recognisable names.
The announcement forms part of Netflix’s new “What Next?” campaign, which uses tarot imagery and interactive experiences to tease what’s coming across TV, film, live events, and games. While the streamer stresses this is not the full 2026 lineup, there’s already more than enough here to get viewers planning their watchlists well in advance.
Returning Series Taking Centre Stage
One of the biggest titles returning in 2026 is ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender‘ for its second season. The live-action fantasy series continues Aang’s journey after the dramatic events at the Northern Water Tribe, as he, Katara, and Sokka set out to rally support against Fire Lord Ozai. Netflix has confirmed the series will return sometime in 2026, accompanied by a newly released exclusive image that hints at an even broader scope for the next chapter.
Another high-profile return is ‘Beef‘, which arrives back for its second season on Wednesday, 16th April 2026. Rather than continuing the original story, the new season introduces a fresh narrative centred on a young couple who witness a disturbing altercation at an elite country club. The fallout spirals into a web of power, manipulation, and wealth, with a cast led by Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny.
Romance and period drama fans also have a big year ahead with ‘Bridgerton‘ Season 4, which focuses on Benedict Bridgerton’s long-awaited love story. Netflix is splitting the season into two parts, with Part 1 landing on Thursday, 29th January 2026, followed by Part 2 on Thursday, 26th February 2026. The new season introduces Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, and leans into masquerades, hidden identities, and the bohemian streak that has long defined Benedict’s character.
Meanwhile, ‘Virgin River‘ continues its remarkable run with Season 7 premiering on Thursday, 12th March 2026. The long-running romantic drama once again follows Mel Monroe and the residents of the remote California town as they navigate love, loss, and second chances. Not far behind, ‘Sweet Magnolias’ returns for its fifth season on Wednesday, 11th June 2026, bringing Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen back to Serenity for more friendship-led drama.
Netflix is also adding a new high-intensity drama to its 2026 TV lineup with ‘Man on Fire’, based on the A.J. Quinnell novels. The seven-episode series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as John Creasy, a former Special Forces operative battling PTSD while being pulled back into extreme violence. The series is set to debut in 2026, with Netflix releasing a sneak peek image alongside the announcement.
Big Movies Lined Up for 2026
On the film side, Netflix confirmed that ‘Enola Holmes 3’ will arrive in summer 2026. The action-mystery sequel sends Enola to Malta, where a new case entangles her personal ambitions with a far more dangerous conspiracy. Action and sci-fi fans can mark Friday, 6th March 2026 for the release of ‘War Machine’, a survival thriller that begins as a US Army Ranger training exercise before spiralling into something far more terrifying. The film stars Alan Ritchson, Dennis Quaid, and Stephan James, and leans heavily into military action with a genre twist.
Comedy also features strongly in Netflix’s 2026 plans. ‘Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip’ premieres on Friday, 13th February 2026, following Joe as he takes his nephew on a cross-country journey intended to teach life lessons, with predictably chaotic results. Later in the year, ‘Little Brother’ arrives with John Cena playing a polished real estate agent whose carefully controlled life is thrown into chaos by the return of his eccentric sibling, portrayed by Eric André.
Drama fans can look forward to ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’, which premieres on Friday, 8th May 2026. Based on the bestselling novel, the film stars Sally Field as a widowed aquarium worker who forms an unexpected bond with a giant Pacific octopus, leading to a mystery that reshapes her understanding of her past.
Netflix is also expanding its animated offerings with ‘Swapped’, an animated buddy comedy slated for 2026. The film features voice performances from Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, and Cedric the Entertainer, and follows two natural enemies who suddenly find themselves trapped in each other’s bodies.
The “What Next?” Experience
Alongside the content announcements, Netflix is rolling out a global “What Next?” campaign that uses tarot cards to tease upcoming titles. The campaign includes an interactive online experience via Tudum, as well as a real-world activation in New York, where fans can visit Grand Central Station on January 12th and 13th for a theatrical tarot reading experience featuring Teyana Taylor as an animatronic fortune teller.
