‘The Lowdown’ Renewed For Season 2 As FX Confirms Return Of Ethan Hawke Drama

FX has officially renewed ‘The Lowdown’ for a second season, confirming the acclaimed drama will be back following a hugely successful debut run. The series, created by Sterlin Harjo and led by Ethan Hawke (Training Day, Moon Knight), has quickly built a reputation as one of the most talked-about shows of the past year.

The renewal comes after the first season landed on numerous “Best TV of 2025” lists and picked up major critical praise, including recognition from the AFI Awards as one of the year’s most outstanding television programmes. FX has also confirmed production on season two is set to begin this spring in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

‘The Lowdown’ centres on Lee Raybon, a self-styled Tulsa “truthstorian” whose obsession with exposing corruption regularly lands him in serious trouble. While not exactly a traditional hero, Lee’s relentless pursuit of the truth drives the show’s gritty, offbeat noir tone, blending investigative drama with dark humour and a strong sense of place.

Season one followed Lee as his latest exposé into the powerful Washberg family is followed by the suspicious death of Dale Washberg, pulling him deeper into a web of secrets that may be far more dangerous than he anticipated. Alongside Ethan Hawke, the first season also starred Keith David (Community), with guest appearances from Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love), Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), and the late Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves).
