Prime Video has released the official trailer for the second season of ‘Cross’, offering a tense first look at the darker, more dangerous next chapter of the hit crime thriller. The new footage leans heavily into escalating stakes and moral ambiguity as the series heads back to Washington, D.C. this February.
Based on characters created by James Patterson, ‘Cross’ stars Aldis Hodge (Black Adam) as Alex Cross, a brilliant homicide detective and forensic psychologist whose ability to think like a killer is both his greatest strength and his biggest burden. Season one proved to be a major breakout for Prime Video, pulling in over 40 million viewers globally in its first 20 days, and the season two trailer makes it clear the show is building on that momentum rather than easing off.
Season two sees Cross pulled into a volatile new investigation when billionaire business titan Lance Durand, played by Matthew Lillard (Scream), requests FBI protection after receiving a death threat. That threat quickly links him to the murder of a wealthy playboy, kicking off a case filled with disturbing clues and high-level secrets. Cross teams up once again with FBI Agent Kayla Craig, portrayed by Alona Tal (Supernatural), as they attempt to stay one step ahead of a killer who clearly enjoys being watched.
At the same time, John Sampson, Cross’s longtime partner and best friend, played by Isaiah Mustafa (Shadowhunters), finds himself forming an unexpected connection that could complicate the case even further. The trailer suggests multiple story threads colliding, giving the season a broader, more dangerous scope than before.
The cast expands this year with Jeanine Mason (Roswell, New Mexico) and Wes Chatham (The Expanse) joining the series, alongside returning cast members Samantha Walkes (Murdoch Mysteries), Juanita Jennings (Good Trouble), Caleb Elijah (Law & Order), Melody Hurd (Them), and Johnny Ray Gill (BrainDead). The growing ensemble reinforces the sense that the Cross universe is widening, with consequences rippling far beyond a single case.
Created by showrunner Ben Watkins, the series continues to use Washington, D.C. as a pressure cooker of power, politics, and violence. Judging by the trailer, season two doubles down on that atmosphere, promising a sharper visual style and a more ruthless tone as Alex Cross is pushed closer to his limits.

Could not watch the first as everything was so dark. The lighting was abysmal. Black men in black rooms, how clever.
