‘The Nevers’ Finally Gets Full UK Run As ITVX Sets Free Streaming Launch

‘The Nevers’ is finally heading to UK audiences in its complete form, with ITV confirming the supernatural drama will arrive on ITVX next month, streaming for free.

Set in August 1896, the series unfolds in Victorian London after a mysterious supernatural event gives certain people, mostly women, extraordinary abilities known as “turns.” Some powers are wondrous, others deeply unsettling, but all who possess them quickly become targets. At the centre of the chaos are Amalia True and Penance Adair, who work to protect and shelter this new and endangered underclass while facing forces determined to wipe them out.

The drama stars Laura Donnelly (Outlander) as Amalia True, a sharp-witted widow with a lethal right hook, alongside Ann Skelly (Death and Nightingales) as gifted young inventor Penance Adair. The ensemble cast also includes Olivia Williams (Dune: Prophecy), James Norton (Happy Valley), Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons), Rochelle Neil (Hanna), Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark), Amy Manson (Once Upon a Time), Pip Torrens (The Crown), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story), Zackary Momoh (Seven Seconds), Elizabeth Berrington (Good Omens), Kiran Sawar (Black Mirror), Anna Devlin (Vigil), Viola Prettejohn (A Discovery of Witches), Ella Smith (The Stranger), Nick Frost (Truth Seekers), and Ben Chaplin (The Capture).

Created by Joss Whedon, the series was executive produced by Bernadette Caulfield, Ilene S. Landress, Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson and Philippa Goslett. Although the show was critically well-received, its release became complicated. It debuted in the US during a turbulent period surrounding Whedon’s departure from the series, and its broadcast was unusually split, with HBO airing Part One and Tubi later releasing Part Two. The show was ultimately cancelled after a single season despite strong reviews.

For UK viewers, this marks the first time the full series will be available. While Sky Atlantic aired Part One back in May 2021, Part Two never received a UK broadcast, leaving the story frustratingly incomplete. ITVX’s release finally gives audiences the chance to watch the entire season from start to finish.
