The BBC has released a batch of first-look photos from ‘The Capture’ Season 3, alongside confirmation that the hit thriller will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this spring.
The Capture sees Holliday Grainger (Strike) back in the lead role as Rachel Carey, with Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You) returning as Isaac Turner following his key role in exposing the covert video manipulation programme known as Correction.
The newly released images give an early glimpse at the series’ returning cast, which also includes Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) as BBC News presenter Khadija Khan, Hugh Quarshie (Holby City) as Commissioner Cameron Yates, Linus Roache (Vikings) as Colonel Figgis, Ben Miles (The Crown) as Danny Hart, Lia Williams (The Crown) as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder (Death in Paradise) as DI Nadia Latif, Nigel Lindsay (Victoria) as DSI Tom Kendricks, Tessa Wong (The Outlaws) as DC Chloe Tan, and Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) as CIA agent Frank Napier.
Also joining the cast for Series 3 are Killian Scott (Dublin Murders), Jonathan Aris (Sherlock), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones), Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch), and Amanda Drew (EastEnders), with Daisy Waterstone (Silent Witness) returning as Abigail Carey.
Set twelve months after Rachel Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister, the new series finds her promoted to Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command. With public trust in surveillance technology at an all-time low, Carey spearheads the new Operation Veritas camera system, only for a devastating and meticulously planned terror attack to plunge her into a far-reaching geopolitical conspiracy that cuts across politics, intelligence, and the media.
Series 3 is once again created and written by Ben Chanan, with the six-episode run produced by Heyday Television for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and distributed internationally by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
