Apple TV has handed an early Season 4 renewal to ‘Shrinking’, the beloved, Emmy Award-nominated comedy starring Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones), ahead of the show’s Season 3 return.
The renewal news lands just before ‘Shrinking’ comes back for its third run, which continues the series’ blend of big laughs, emotional gut punches, and quietly devastating honesty. Created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Segel, the comedy has quickly become one of Apple TV’s most critically praised shows, regularly singled out for its writing and performances.
‘Shrinking’ follows grieving therapist Jimmy Laird, who begins breaking the rules by telling his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring professional boundaries has a habit of blowing up people’s lives, including his own, with often hilarious and unexpectedly heartfelt consequences.
Season 3 sees the return of Christa Miller (Cougar Town), Jessica Williams (The Daily Show), Luke Tennie (Deadly Class), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Lukita Maxwell (Generation), and Ted McGinley (Married… with Children). The new season also welcomes back guest stars Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick and Cobie Smulders, alongside new additions Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom), Michael J. Fox (Family Ties), Candice Bergen (Murphy Brown), Sherry Cola (Good Trouble), and Isabella Gomez (One Day at a Time).
Behind the scenes, ‘Shrinking’ is produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Bill Lawrence’s Doozer Productions, and counts Lawrence, Segel and Goldstein among its executive producers. The show continues Apple TV’s successful collaboration with Lawrence and Warner Bros. following ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Bad Monkey’.
With Season 4 already locked in, Apple TV is clearly confident the series still has plenty of emotional chaos and sharp humour left to deliver.
‘Shrinking’ Season 3 premieres Wednesday, 28th January 2026 on Apple TV.
