Apple TV has dropped a brand new trailer for ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’, offering a thunderous first look at the second season of the Monsterverse drama, which returns later this February. The reveal came during the 2026 Apple TV Press Day, where the cast reunited on stage to tease bigger Titans, higher stakes, and the arrival of a terrifying new threat.
Season two sees the return of Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Wyatt Russell (Lodge 49), Anna Sawai (Sh?gun), Kiersey Clemons (Dope), Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett (The Morning Show) and Anders Holm (Workaholics), alongside the long-awaited reappearance of Godzilla and Kong. Also making their Monsterverse debut is an entirely new Titan, the ominously named Titan X.
If season one followed two siblings unravelling their family’s connection to the shadowy organisation Monarch, season two escalates everything. With the fate of Monarch, and arguably the world, hanging in the balance, the story pulls its characters back together on Kong’s Skull Island, while also introducing a mysterious new village and an ancient Titan rising from the depths of the ocean.
Titan X is positioned as the central mystery of the new season. A bioluminescent colossus emerging from the sea, it is described as less a creature and more a living cataclysm, an ancient force whose motives remain terrifyingly unclear. Expect the past to collide violently with the present, blurring lines between allies and enemies as another global titan event looms.
Season two also expands the cast with guest appearances from Takehiro Hira (Sh?gun), Amber Midthunder (Prey), Curtiss Cook (Narcos), Cliff Curtis (Fear the Walking Dead), Dominique Tipper (The Expanse) and *Camilo Jiménez Varón.
Behind the scenes, the series continues to be produced by Legendary Television, with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell executive producing alongside Chris Black, who serves as showrunner for season two. Matt Shakman and Lawrence Trilling return as directors, with Trilling helming four episodes.
Apple TV is clearly going all-in on the Monsterverse. Alongside the return of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’, the streamer has already announced an untitled Young Lee Shaw prequel series, with Wyatt Russell reprising his role and executive producing. That expansion is part of a broader multiseries deal with Legendary Entertainment, signalling that the Titans are far from done stomping across our screens.
