Sky has dropped the official trailer for ‘Prisoner’, a new action thriller led by Tahar Rahim (The Serpent, Un Prophète) and Izuka Hoyle (Boiling Point, Big Boys), and it looks like a pretty tense little ride.
Created and written by Matt Charman, ‘Prisoner’ centres on Amber, a principled young prison transport officer tasked with escorting high-value inmate Tibor to court, where he is due to testify against an elite crime syndicate. Naturally, things do not stay straightforward for long. When their convoy is ambushed, Amber is forced into an uneasy alliance with the very man she was supposed to be delivering, leaving the pair handcuffed together and on the run as the syndicate closes in.
It is a strong setup for a thriller, and one that looks built around pressure, distrust, and the sort of ticking-clock chaos Sky tends to do rather well. Amber has to decide just how much she is willing to risk to survive, while Tibor remains both her best chance of getting through it alive and the biggest reason not to trust the situation for a second.
Alongside Rahim and Hoyle, the supporting cast includes Eddie Marsan (Back to Black, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe), Catherine McCormack (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, 28 Weeks Later), Leonie Benesch (September 5, Babylon Berlin), Finn Bennett (Black Doves, True Detective), Sam Troughton (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, Black Doves), Laurie Davidson (The Girlfriend, Mary & George), Ken Nwosu (Black Doves, Sticks and Stones), Brían F. O’Byrne (Conclave, The Wonder), and Youssef Kerkour (Lockerbie: A Search For Truth).
Behind the camera, the series comes from Matt Charman (Hostage, Bridge of Spies), with Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) directing, alongside later episodes from Pia Strietmann. It is produced by Binocular in association with Sky Studios, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handling international sales.
‘Prisoner’ premieres Thursday, 30th April 2026 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
