Netflix has released the first teaser for ‘Little House on the Prairie’, offering a sweeping first look at the streamer’s new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved books ahead of its arrival this July.
The teaser leans into both the warmth and hardship of the Ingalls family’s move west, with young Laura guiding us into the story as the family leaves behind everything they knew in search of a new life on the prairie. There are campfire moments, fiddle tunes, and plenty of sun-drenched frontier imagery, but also a clear sense that this won’t all be rolling hills and wholesome smiles. Netflix is pitching the drama as part family story, part survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, which gives it a slightly broader scope than some fans may be expecting.
Leading the cast is Alice Halsey (Lessons in Chemistry) as Laura, alongside Luke Bracey (Elvis, Little Fires Everywhere) as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale) as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett) as Mary. Behind the camera, the series comes from showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Vampire Diaries, Archive 81), with episodes directed by Sarah Adina Smith, Julie Anne Robinson, Kat Candler, Erica Tremblay and Sydney Freeland.
Netflix says the first season is inspired by Little House on the Prairie, which is actually the third book in Wilder’s series, so it sounds like the show will be pulling in earlier history and backstory as it builds out this version of the Ingalls family. That fits with the teaser, which feels less like a straight remake of the 1974 TV adaptation and more like a fresh, more cinematic pass at the source material.
Interestingly, Netflix has already renewed ‘Little House on the Prairie’ for Season 2, so the streamer is clearly feeling confident about this one before the wagon has even properly left the driveway.
‘Little House on the Prairie’ Season 1 premieres Wednesday, 9th July 2026 on Netflix. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
