This week’s Geektown Radio is a little different, as we have a special episode from MCM Comic Con London May 2026, which took over ExCeL London for a packed weekend of TV, film, games, anime, comics, cosplay, panels, interviews and wonderfully geeky mayhem.
This is a solo special from Dave, who headed down to the convention over the weekend to cover as much as one person could physically manage, after Darryl sadly had to drop out at the last minute due to illness. That meant one man, one recorder, one camera, and the slightly unhinged ambition of trying to be in several places at once!
If you’ve never experienced MCM Comic Con, imagine a three-day carnival of pop culture, where you can go all-out with cosplay, wander in casual gear, bring the family, meet friends, or just happily lose yourself among artists, games, comics, merchandise, and fans from every corner of geekdom.
This year also came with the added bonus of London hitting around 32C, which made the impressively air-conditioned ExCeL feel like an oasis. It is a rare convention where going inside a building packed with thousands of people is the sensible way to cool down, but here we are.
In the episode, Dave chats about the atmosphere across the weekend, the cosplay, the show floor, and catching up with some familiar comic creators. That includes Neil Gibson’s Twisted Comics, who now have a comic book adaptation of Black Mirror’s USS Callister alongside titles such as Twisted Dark and Acting Like Animals. He also caught up with Beyond The Bunker Comics, the wonderfully bonkers team behind Moon, and their new comic adaptation of the classic kids’ TV series The Trap Door.
The bulk of the special is made up of clips and interviews from across the convention. First up, we have Nathan Fillion (Firefly, The Rookie) and Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) on stage, sharing some very funny convention stories, including zombie heads and a tale involving Nicholas Brendon.
There are also clips from the Hellaverse panel, hosted by CJ Allen, featuring Richard Steven Horvitz (Helluva Boss, Invader Zim), Vivian Nixon (Helluva Boss, Grey’s Anatomy) and Erika Henningsen (Hazbin Hotel, Girls5eva), as they discuss voice recording, renewal news, and the wonderfully chaotic impact of Brandon Rogers.
Dave also brings us some audio from the Beyond Paradise panel, featuring Kris Marshall (Death In Paradise, Love Actually), Zahra Ahmadi (The Bay, Tracey Ullman’s Show), Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls, Big Boys) and Felicity Montagu (Alan Partridge, Hullraisers), talking about the hit Death In Paradise spin-off.
Finally, the episode includes Dave’s full press room interview with the cast of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, featuring Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Avatar: The Last Airbender), Matt Lanter (Timeless, 90210), James Arnold Taylor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ratchet & Clank), Nika Futterman (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Loud House) and Catherine Taber (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Knights of the Old Republic), as they discuss the legacy of the much-loved animated series, their characters, the fans, and the wider Star Wars universe.
Video versions of some of the panels and interviews will also be going up on the Geektown YouTube channel.
