Prime Video Orders Greg Berlanti Horror Series ‘Stillwater’, Where Nobody Ages Or Dies

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video is heading to a town where nobody ages, nobody dies, and nobody is allowed to leave, as Amazon MGM Studios officially orders the eight-part horror thriller Stillwater from Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray.

Based on the Skybound graphic novel created by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K Pérez, the one-hour series follows Daniel West, an ex-con who receives a mysterious letter offering answers about his past, along with the promise of a substantial inheritance.

Unfortunately for Daniel, collecting that inheritance requires travelling to the small town of Stillwater. Once there, he discovers that the residents never grow older, death apparently does not exist, and escaping the community may not be an option.

Berlanti and Wray will write and executive produce the adaptation, which is described as a mind-bending combination of horror, mystery and psychological suspense.

“We’re thrilled to dive into Stillwater because it’s far beyond the usual immortality story,” Berlanti and Wray said. “It’s a horror show about a community that has to decide what forever is worth, and what they’re willing to do to protect it. Chip Zdarsky & Ramón K Pérez created an extraordinary world that’s both terrifying and deeply human, and we’re so grateful to our partners at Amazon, WBTV, and Skybound for trusting us to bring such a beloved title to life. We couldn’t be more excited for fans, and everyone discovering this story for the first time, to meet Daniel West and all the eerie townsfolk lying in wait for him.”

Amazon originally landed the project following a bidding war in 2025, giving it a straight-to-series commitment subject to the delivery of a pilot script and first-season bible. With that material now completed, the studio has formally cleared ‘Stillwater’ for production.

The series comes from Warner Bros. Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Berlanti Productions and Skybound Entertainment.

Wray executive produces alongside Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Robbie Rogers for Berlanti Productions. Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller and Chip Zdarsky executive produce for Skybound Entertainment, with former Berlanti Productions executive Jonathan Gabay also serving as an executive producer.

The order gives Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television their second comic-based horror series pickup in the space of a week, following Disney+ ordering ‘Afterlife With Archie’. The companies are also developing a live-action ‘Scooby-Doo!’ series for Netflix.

Wray’s previous television credits include ‘Watchmen’, ‘Westworld’, ‘Mad Men’, ‘Mindhunter’ and ‘The Leftovers’. She is also working with Damon Lindelof on the upcoming HBO drama ‘The Chain’.

Skybound Entertainment is, of course, the company behind ‘The Walking Dead’ franchise and Prime Video’s animated superhero hit ‘Invincible’, giving it plenty of experience when it comes to turning comic-book worlds into television.

No casting or filming details have yet been announced for ‘Stillwater’, and Prime Video has not revealed when the series will premiere.
