Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Bodyguard) is swapping royal protection for hospital heroics, taking the lead in the new medical hostage thriller ‘Trauma‘ (working title), which is heading to Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.
The action thriller begins when terrorists seize a busy London hospital while the Prime Minister is undergoing surgery. Former Royal Marines medic turned emergency room doctor Jim Marchant, played by Richard Madden, finds himself trapped inside and forced to fight his way through the building to save everyone being held hostage.
As Jim works through the hospital floor by floor, the balance of power shifts, turning the building into a deadly battle of strategy, nerve and survival. Basically, it sounds like the world’s worst shift at A&E, with national security added to the patient list.
‘Trauma’ was created and written by Geoff Bussetil (Slow Horses, Scoop, Skins). Daniel Syrkin (Tehran, MobLand) directs, with Chrissy Skinns (A Spy Among Friends, The Last Kingdom) producing and 42’s Chris Kennedy serving as co-producer.
The series is produced by Lionsgate Television and 42 Management & Production under a co-production model bringing Prime Video and Paramount+ together. Prime Video will be the exclusive home of ‘Trauma’ in the UK and Ireland, while Paramount+ will release the series exclusively in all other territories. Production is set to begin in October 2026.
Richard Madden also executive produces alongside Syrkin and 42’s Ben Pugh and Ben Cavey. He can next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Trinity’, following roles in the Amazon film Killer Heat and Marvel Studios’ Eternals.
‘Trauma‘ does not yet have a UK premiere date, but will launch exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland and Paramount+ in all other territories.
