Apple TV has released the trailer for ‘Brothers‘, the new comedy starring Matthew McConaughey (‘True Detective’) and Woody Harrelson (‘Cheers’) as fictionalised versions of themselves whose long-running bromance gets a potentially life-changing twist. They might actually be brothers.
The eight-episode comedy comes from Emmy nominee and Peabody Award winner Lee Eisenberg, with McConaughey and Harrelson both starring and executive producing. The series launches globally on Apple TV in September with its first two episodes, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through November.
‘Brothers’ sees Woody pack up his family and head to Matthew’s ranch in Austin after his daughter’s engagement falls apart. The extended stay is supposed to offer everyone a chance to recover, but things take a rather unexpected turn when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac, played by Holland Taylor (‘The Morning Show’), accidentally reveals a decades-old family secret.
That secret suggests Matthew and Woody may share more than an extremely close friendship. Woody immediately begins tearing around the ranch looking for answers, while Matthew has another fairly major issue occupying his time: he’s considering running for Governor of Texas.
So, just the usual relaxing family visit, then.
Alongside McConaughey, Harrelson and Taylor, the ensemble includes Natalie Martinez (‘Bad Monkey’), Brittany Ishibashi (‘Runaways’), Nolan Almeida (‘Peter Pan & Wendy’), Ella Grace Helton (‘Sweet Magnolias’), Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan (‘The Brothers Sun’) and Oona Yaffe (‘Sleepy Hollow’).
The comedy is produced for Apple TV by Paramount Television Studios. Eisenberg, McConaughey and Harrelson executive produce alongside Natalie Sandy, David West Read, Trish Hofmann, Bill Bost, Jason Winer, David Finkel, Brett Baer and Jeremy Plager. Trent O’Donnell directs multiple episodes, including the pilot.
‘Brothers‘ Season 1 premieres Wednesday, 23rd September 2026 on Apple TV.
