Channel 4 has released the first trailer for the upcoming legal drama ‘Pierre’, starring David Harewood (Sherwood, Homeland) as a West London duty solicitor who finds himself taking on something considerably bigger than his usual caseload when he begins digging into the suspicious death of a young client.
The six-part drama follows Pierre Jeffreys, a charming, funny and somewhat larger-than-life solicitor juggling an overstretched job, a fragile personal life and the constant challenge of keeping his head above water financially. However, things take a much darker turn following the death of Michael, a young Black client whose story Pierre believes the police are not telling truthfully.
The newly released trailer for ‘Pierre’ gives us our first proper look at Harewood in action as the solicitor begins questioning the official version of events and finds himself pulled into a web of institutional corruption. Whatever warnings are thrown his way, Pierre doesn’t appear to be in the mood for backing down.
“I am going to find out who did this,”
As his investigation gathers pace, Pierre risks his career, his family and potentially much more in his determination to uncover the truth. Alongside the overarching corruption story, each episode will also feature individual legal cases for Pierre and his team, set against the pressures facing a struggling legal aid practice.
Joining David Harewood (Sherwood, Homeland) is Michele Austin (Hard Truths, This Is Going To Hurt) as Charlotte Manners, Pierre’s joint managing partner, alongside Jason Flemyng (Pennyworth, Boiling Point) as Pierre’s best friend, DS Ronnie Miller.
The ensemble also includes Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) as Danny Headman, Nikkita Chadha (Hijack) as Alecia Khan, Christopher Fairbank (Andor) as Sean Lambert, Sara Powell (Last Christmas) as Pierre’s wife Celeste Jeffreys, and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna) as Brenda Dean. Newcomers Dylan Ennis as Eli Jeffreys and Ezrae Maye as Michael round out the cast.
‘Pierre’ is co-written by Roy Williams (Soon Gone: The Windrush Chronicles, Death of England: Face to Face) and John Donnelly (Summerwater, Utopia), with Sarmad Masud (You Don’t Know Me, Boarders) serving as lead director. Jo Johnson (Adolescence, 1000 Blows) produces for The Lighthouse, while executive producers include Hilary Salmon, Williams, Donnelly and Harewood.
Channel 4 is still keeping the actual premiere date under wraps for now, with the trailer simply promising the drama is “coming soon”.
