Lucifer is adding a couple of new cast members for season 2 Geektown has learnt.
Aimee Garcia (Rush Hour, Dexter, Vegas) will take on the role of Ella Lopez, the “brainy but spiritual, warm but tough” police department forensic scientist, from a rough Detroit neighbourhood, with a strong Catholic family and five overprotective brothers. This apparent contradictory nature of someone with mutual beliefs in both faith and science catches Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) attention, leading him to want to know more.
Garcia is probably best know for playing the nanny, Jamie Batista, in Dexter, and more recently appeared as Didi Diaz in Fox’s failed Rush Hour tv show.
It was also announced recently that Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer would be joining the cast as Charlotte, Lucifer’s mother, who has been trapped in Hell for thousands of years by God (her ex-husband). With the Mother of Angels now free on Earth, it will become clear that she’s the one her son takes after. Mummy dearest is fearless and has a strong conviction for who she is and what she deserves. However, mother and son do not share the same opinion when it comes to humanity. Everything that fascinates Lucifer about people repels his mother – a disdain that’s highlighted by that fact that Charlotte’s trapped in a human body for her stay on Earth. Lucifer’s desperate to find out what Mum is up to, but she claims that all she wants is to spend time with her sons again. But can the devil’s mom really be that innocent?
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, the king of hell, who’s gotten bored with his life in the underworld, and decided to open a nightclub in LA instead. Season 2 sees Lucifer dealing with his mummy issues, while continuing to take down criminals alongside LAPD Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
Lucifer airs on Amazon Prime in the UK, and should return the day after the US airing, 20th September 2016.
