SDCC: ‘The Flash’ Season 4 Trailer & News

by Dave Elliott

Next up from the DC/CW panels at SDCC we have The Flash, which dropped a Season 4 trailer, and a few little bits of news about what we can expect in the Autumn – Again, obviously *SPOILERS*.

As we announced a few days ago, we know the ‘big bad’ for this season is Clifford DeVoe aka The Thinker. Now we can put a face to the character, as South African actor Neil Sandilands (‘The 100’) takes on the role. He’s joined by fellow South African actress, Kim Engelbrecht (‘Dominion’), as his sidekick The Mechanic. Casting is still open for hero Elongated Man.

They also announced we will be seeing Gypsy’s father (the bounty hunter ‘Breacher’), played by none other than the legendary Danny Trejo! That’s going to make things interesting for Cisco (Carlos Valdes), given his relationship will Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) is supposed to advance this year…

After it got a little heavy last season (basing the whole plot around killing the hero’s girlfriend will do that!), things are heading back to a lighter, more Season 1, tone this year, according to exec producer Todd Helbing. “We want to get back to the jokes,” he says.

As you can see from the video above, Team Flash has a somewhat different make up when we return, with various people stepping up their roles after losing Barry (and H.R.) Iris (Candice Patton) has taken the lead, and Cisco has upped his Vibe game, but interestingly, we’re still seeing Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) in his Kid Flash get up in the trailer, when we know he’s been seen in the full Flash outfit on set. Could that be to fool that sword-wielding samurai?

Also in the trailer is Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost… Although in this case, looking more Snow than Frost, despite her commenting “It’s so much more fun to bad…”

Notably missing from the trailer is Tom Cavanagh. Don’t worry, he will be back as some form of Harrison Wells, we just don’t know which one yet. As Tom says “There’s a thousand different Wells” for them to choose from!

The Flash‘ Season 4 will air on Sky 1 in Autumn 2017.
