Our last post on the Arrowverse shows from SDCC this year is Supergirl, which returns for it’s 3rd Season in the Autumn. They announced a bunch of new cast, plus some other little tidbits about what we can expect next series. Obviously, season 3 *SPOILERS* incoming…

The first bit of casting news sees a reason star from ‘Agents Of Shield’ jump across from Marvel to DC. Adrian Pasdar (‘Heroes’, ‘Colony’) will be taking the role of Morgan Edge, a well known DC supervillain, who traditionally has been leader of organised crime group, Intergang. This version of the character will appear as a ruthless real-estate developer, but I’m betting we’ll see more of his ‘other’ work as the season progresses.

Yael Grobglas (‘Jane the Virgin’, ‘Reign’) has landed the part of Psi, a villainess who has psychic powers, that allow her to mess with her enemies’ minds… We’re also getting to meet Martian Manhunter’s father this year, as Carl Lumbly (‘Zoo’, ‘Alias’, ‘The Returned’) takes on the part of M’yrnn J’onzz. Although he was a pacifist religious leader, he’s set to push J’onn in unexpected ways. Rounding out the new casting is young actress Emma Tremblay (‘Wayward Pines’), who is playing Ruby, an independent minded, Supergirl super-fan, whose obsession puts her in grave danger.

As we can see from the trailer, Supergirl is not happy about losing Mon-El, and appears to be thinking about ditching her Kara persona about being “The Girl of Steel” full time… Pretty sure that’s not going to last, especially as they’ve confirmed Mon-El will be back at some point.

Jimmy Olsen is still Guardian, but will also be more… well… Jimmy Olsen this season – i.e. the report and photographer we know from the comics. He’s also going to get a new love interest.

This season’s Big Bad is Reign, played by Odette Annable (‘Pure Genius’, ‘Banshee’). In the comics, Reign is a Kryptonian Worldkiller, i.e. an alien species, genetically modified into biological weapons… Jeez, those Kryptonian’s really need some better hobbies!

As we announced a few weeks ago, Erica Durance is taking over the role of Alura Zor-El this season, and the trailer above gives us our first quick glimpse of her.

Supergirl‘ Season 3 comes to Sky 1 in Autumn 2017.
