As we head into the month of April, TV in the UK is ramping up even further. Not only do we have shows like Timeless, Westworld, The Americans, Silicon Valley, Gotham, and Legion returning for new seasons, but a whole bunch of new series landing too. Here is our look at some of the new shows to watch out for in the coming month.

Kiss Me First – Channel 4 – 2nd April 2018 at 10pm

From ‘Skins’ creator, Bryan Elsley comes this innovative thriller which combines live action with stunning state-of-the-art computer-generated virtual world sequences in a TV drama first. Based on Lottie Moggach’s debut novel, ‘Kiss Me First’ moves between the real and virtual animated worlds. When her mother dies, lonely girl Leila (Tallulah Haddon – ‘Taboo’, ‘The Living Dead’) has to learn how to manage living on her own. Leila has a digital avatar, Shadowfax, and when she logs onto the virtual reality game Azana she feels truly alive. It’s there that she meets the mysterious Mania aka Tess (Simona Brown – ‘The Night Manager’), and discovers the secret paradise called Red Pill. But Adrian (Matthew Beard), the leader of Red Pill, tells her she has to be invited to join and blasts Shadowfax out of the game. The next day, at Leila’s workplace, Tess/Mania turns up – in real life and Leila wants to know why…

The Crossing – Amazon Prime – 3rd April 2018

‘The Crossing’ sees refugees from a war-torn country seek asylum in a small American fishing town, only the country these people are from is America – and the war they are fleeing hasn’t happened yet. As the government tries to uncover the truth behind this mysterious migration only one thing is certain: the lives of the people here — both the townspeople and these newcomers — will never be the same.

Deep State – FOX – 5th April 2018 at 9pm

‘Deep State’ centres around Max Easton (Mark Strong –‘Kick-Ass’, ‘Low Winter Sun’, ‘Zero Dark Thirty’), an ex-spy whose past comes back to haunt him when he’s summoned away from his new life in the Pyrenees by George White (Alistair Petrie – ‘The Night Manager’, ‘Rogue One‘), head of covert MI6/CIA team “The Section”. White convinces Max to return to the field to avenge the death of his estranged son Harry (Joe Dempsie – ‘Game of Thrones’ Gendry). But the stakes are soon raised when Max finds himself at the heart of a covert intelligence war, immersed in a widespread conspiracy to profit from the spread of chaos in the Middle East. Max enters into a dangerous game as powerful corporations demonstrate that they are willing to go to great lengths to protect their reputation and bury their secrets. With such a strong undercurrent of corruption, who can Max trust? Who is telling the truth? And what must be done to uncover it? To find out, Max is going to have to throw himself back into the dangerous and brutal life he so desperately tried to leave behind.

The Resident – Universal Channel – 10th April 2018 at 9pm

‘The Resident’ stars Matt Czuchry (‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘The Good Wife’) as an idealistic young doctor begins his first day eager to save lives. Under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident, he’ll soon discover his chosen profession is not what he imagined and that ethical lines are often blurred. Series also stars Emily VanCamp (‘Revenge’), Manish Dayal (‘Halt and Catch Fire’), Moran Atias (’24: Legacy’), Merrin Dungey (‘Big Little Lies’) and Shaunette Renée Wilson (‘Billions’) with Melina Kanakaredes (‘CSI: NY’, ‘Providence’) and Bruce Greenwood (‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’, ‘Mad Men’).

Lost In Space – Netflix – 13th April 2018

The story follows the Robinson family, who are part of a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space. Their ship is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet, and they find themselves battling not only a strange new alien environment, but also their own personal demons. Toby Stephens (‘Black Sails’) plays the father & commander John Robinson and Molly Parker (‘House of Cards’) takes the role of mother & biochemist Maureen Robinson. The kids are played by Taylor Russell (‘Falling Skies’) as eldest child Judy, Mina Sundwall (‘Freeheld’) as middle daughter Penny, and Maxwell Jenkins (Sense8), who will play the youngest child, Will Robinson.

Marvel’s Runaways – Syfy UK – 18th April 2018 at 9pm

Based on the 2003 comic book by Brian K. Vaughan (Buffy Season 8, Saga) and Adrian Alphona (Ms. Marvel, Uncanny X-Force), ‘Runaways’ follows a group of teens who, despite their dislike of each other, must band together against a common enemy… Their parents… When the group discover their various mums & dads are actually part of a super-villain group called ‘The Pride’,  the teens learn their true heritage. Some find they have abilities, whilst others decide to swipe some magical items from their evil parents and set out to defeat them.

Station 19 – Sky Living – 18th April 2018 at 10pm

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spin-off ‘Station 19′ lands in the UK and follows the heroic firefighters at Seattle Fire Station 19 – from captain to newest recruit – who risk their lives and hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock. These brave men and women are like family, literally and figuratively, and together they put their own lives in jeopardy as first responders to save the lives of others. More about the series here.

Happy! – Netflix – 26th April 2018

‘Happy!’ stars Christopher Meloni (‘Law & Order: SVU’, ‘True Blood’) as Nick Sax, a corrupt, intoxicated ex-cop turned hit-man, who is adrift in a stinking twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, eczema, and betrayal. With a hit gone wrong, a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous child killer in a Santa suit on the loose, Nick and his world are changed forever… by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary, blue horse called Happy! Patton Oswalt (‘The Goldbergs’, ‘Agents Of SHIELD’) voices Happy, the horse.

New Legends of Monkey – Netflix – 27th April 2018

‘The New Legends of Monkey’ follows the story of a young girl, who teams up with 3 fallen gods that embark on a perilous journey to end a demonic reign of chaos and restore balance to their world. Chai Hansen (‘Mako Mermaids’, ‘The 100’) stars as Monkey, Luciane Buchanan (‘Filthy Rich’, ‘Blue Rose’) as Tripitaka, Josh Thomson (‘Terry Teo’, ‘The Barefoot Bandits’) as Pigsy and Emilie Cocquerel (‘Lion’) as Sandy.
