YouTube Premium Launches In The UK Today

Over 400 hours of video are added to YouTube every minute with new creators coming onboard the platform every day, and now the service formally known, as YouTube Red, now renamed YouTube Premium, has launched in the UK, as of 4pm today!

Today’s launch of YouTube Premium will provide the opportunity to enjoy exclusive shows on the platform, download content and enjoy an uninterrupted ad-free viewing experience. The paid subscription service enables you to have freedom when streaming, so you can download the latest Casey Neistat video to enjoy on your commute or binge on Originals show Cobra Kai.

YouTube Original shows and movies will be exclusively available to YouTube Premium subscribers, and they have added two new UK-based Originals to the service for the launch – F2 Finding Football and The Sidemen Show.

“At YouTube, we continue to support incredible European creators and the stories they want to share with the whole world,” comments Luke Hyams, Head of YouTube Originals in EMEA. “With YouTube Premium, we want to provide the opportunity to take creators to the next level and provide audiences with an all-new programming experience inspired by the personalities and themes that they love on YouTube.”

Episode one and two of F2 Finding Football are available now, the show takes viewers and celebrity guests on a football world-tour to explore the beautiful game. Episode one is based in Argentina with A$AP Rocky teaming up with the duo to create a tango, trap tekkers mash-up and test their skills at gambetta. Episode two takes the duo to Japan to create a game show with Steve Aoki and learn the ancient game of Kemari.

Episode one of The Sidemen Show launches today, with extreme challenges from the ultimate action hero, Steve-O, in Morocco. One half reality, one half drama, and three halves mayhem the show comes from world-renowned YouTube creators The Sidemen. Future episodes (available with upgrade to YouTube Premium) will see Nicole Scherzinger battle her evil twin and Bear Grylls push the group to their survival limits.

A YouTube Premium subscription will also include YouTube Music Premium, offering access to a world of music, with premium features including downloadable music and videos plus ad-free and background listening.
