SDCC ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9 & ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 4b Get Trailers!
As anyone who has been following the news will know, ‘The Walking Dead’ has some major changes coming as it heads into its 9th Season. Now the gang have dealt with Negan, the way he was dealt with has upset some people. Most notably Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who wanted him dead as revenge for killing her husband Glenn. Whether that will factor into her departure from the series remains to be seen. One comment new showrunner, Angela Kang did make at the SDCC panel was that “Maggie’s been pregnant for like, twelve years and now we finally get to see the baby!”
We also know that, at some point this season, we will be losing Rick, after Andrew Lincoln has decided he’d had enough of sweltering in the Atlanta sun covered in zombie guts. “This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes,” commented Lincoln at the panel. “I love this show. It means everything to me. I love the people who make this show. I’m particularly fond of the people who watch this show.” Curiously he goes on to add “My relationship with Rick Grimes is far from over… I’m really, really excited about this season. No one is bigger than the story, and the story this year is unbelievable.”
‘The Walking Dead‘ Season 9 Comes to Fox UK on Monday, 8th October 2018 at 9pm.
Over on ‘Fear The Walking Dead’, the first half of the season began with one figure huddled around a campfire and ended with nine. Characters who started their journeys in isolation collided with each other in unexpected ways and found themselves in one of the last places they ever expected to be… together. In the back half of the season, they will explore who they are now – as individuals and as part of the greater group – and how they will forge ahead. They will find themselves pitted against new adversaries – human, walker, and even nature itself. Theirs will be a journey wrought with danger, love, heartbreak, loss, and ultimately, hope.
This season saw Lennie James’ Morgan be the first character to make the trip over to Fear from the main show. “The character of Morgan has been such a huge part of The Walking Dead series,” commented creator, Robert Kirkman at the SDCC panel. “I’ve been a huge fan of Lennie for many years. The character has lived so far beyond where I took him in the comic book series… taking him to a place that I never could have. It brings me no end of joy.”
‘Fear The Walking Dead‘ returns 13th August at 2am, simulcast with the US, and is repeated at 9pm on AMC on BT TV and those of you with BT TV Sport packages on Sky.
