WBTV Are Working On Bringing Back ‘ALF’

This is one of those stories which will help determine the age of our readers… Warner Bros TV Studios are working on bringing back the loveable and sarcastic ‘ALF’!

For those of you not around watching TV in the 80s, ‘ALF’ was a sitcom which ran on NBC in the US from 1986 to 1990. It followed the story of an Alien Life Form (nicknamed ALF, although his real name is Gordon Shumway) who crash lands in the backyard of the Tanner family whilst escaping the explosion of his home planet, Melmac. Taking pity on the new arrival, the Tanners hide ALF in their home to stop him being taken away by the Alien Task Force, a government agency specialising in aliens.

The original show ran for 100 episodes over 4 seasons, and somewhat cemented itself in US pop culture, being referenced in a number of other shows and films such as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, ‘Big Bang’ and (of course) ‘Family Guy’.

Original co-creators Paul Fusco, who puppeteered and voiced ALF, and Tom Patchett are both said to be involved in the reboot, although it’s not clear in what capacity. One suggested storyline for the return being discussed would see ALF reemerge having escaped from Area 51 where he has been held since the end of the previous series.

The new ‘ALF’ show is currently in the very early stages of development and there is no network attached, so might not go anywhere, but we’ll let you know if we hear more!
