Season 1 of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s spy thriller ‘Killing Eve‘ will premiere on the BBC Three iPlayer channel as a box set and on BBC One in September it has been announced.
Based on the Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings, ‘Killing Eve’ stars Sandra Oh (‘Grey’s Anatomy’) as Eve, a bored MI5 security officer whose desk job does not fulfil her fantasies of being a spy. Jodie Comer (‘Doctor Foster’) is Villanelle, a fearsome assassin clinging to the luxuries her violent job affords her. When Eve is tasked with tracking down Villanelle before she can strike again, the two women are thrown into a cat-and-mouse game that turns the traditional spy-thriller on its head.
The duo are joined by Fiona Shaw (‘Harry Potter’) as Carolyn Martens, David Haig (‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’) as Eve’s colleague Bill, and Kim Bodnia (‘The Bridge’) as Konstantin. Further casting includes Darren Boyd (‘Fortitude’) as Frank Haleton, Sean Delaney (‘Midsomer Murders’) as Kenny Stowton, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (‘Downward Dog’) as Elena Felton, and Owen McDonnell (‘Paula’) as Niko.
The eight-part series comes from multi-award winning writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (‘Fleabag’) and was already renewed for a 2nd Season before the first had even aired on BBC America who commisioned the drama.
‘Killing Eve‘ Season 1 premieres on BBC Three as a box set from Saturday, 15th September 2018 and will also air on BBC One from 9.15pm the same evening.
