Timothy Dalton Set To Lead the ‘Doom Patrol’ As The Chief

Doom Patrol has added an ex-Bond to the cast as Timothy Dalton takes the role of Dr. Niles Caulder, aka The Chief in the upcoming DC Universe series.

‘Doom Patrol’ is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast superheroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities – but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence – and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Dr. Caulder is a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.

Along with playing Bond… James Bond… Dalton has also starred in ‘Doctor Who’ as Rassilon, ‘Chuck’ as Alexei Volkoff, and most recently Sir Malcolm Murray in ‘Penny Dreadful’.

Dalton joins the already announced cast of Joivan Wade (‘EastEnders’, ‘Doctor Who’) as Vic Stone, aka Cyborg, Brendan Fraser (‘The Mummy’ movies, ‘Trust’) as Cliff Steel/Robotman, April Bowlby (‘Two and a Half Men’, ‘Drop Dead Diva’) as Elasti-Girl and Diane Guerrero (‘Orange Is the New Black’, ‘Jane the Virgin’) as Crazy Jane. Alan Tudyk (‘Firefly, ‘Rogue One’, ‘Dollhouse’) was recently announced as taking the role of Eric Morden, aka Mr. Nobody, the main villain for this season.

The DC Universe streaming service will launch in the US on September 15th, but we still don’t know what the plans for the streaming service are worldwide, including the UK… Doom Patrol itself is not expected to appear until 2019, but some of the characters are going to appear in the ‘Titans’ series, which launches on October 12th.
