‘Grimm’ Star Elizabeth Tulloch To Play Lois Lane & Cassandra Jean Amell Joins The Arrowverse Crossover

The CW’s Arrowverse has found it’s Lois Lane, as they announced ‘Grimm’ star Elizabeth Tulloch will play the role in the upcoming crossover event. They’ve also announced that ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell will be working alongside his wife, as Cassandra Jean Amell takes the role of Nora Fries.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that this year’s crossover event would not only see the introduction of Ruby Rose as Batwoman, but would also see Tyler Hoechlin reprise his role as Superman/Clark Kent, and the introduction of his Daily Planet co-worker, Lois Lane. Now they have found their Lois in ‘Grimm’ actress, Elizabeth Tulloch.

Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch starred as Juliette, girlfriend of lead character Nick, in the first 4 seasons of the fantasy drama series. Although the character was killed (well… killed-ish) at the end of the 4th Season, Tulloch returned as Eve, a character with all of Juliette’s memories but none of her emotional attachment to Nick, in the last 2 Seasons of the show.

We have already seen Lucy Lane’s (Jenna Dewan) and father General Sam Lane (Glenn Morshower) in ‘Supergirl’, but as yet haven’t met Lois in the Arrowverse, although she has been mentioned numerous times. “We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse,” commented Supergirl exec producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner. “This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and an amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”

Cassandra Jean Amell will also be joining the crossover event as Nora Fries, wife of notorious Batman villain, Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze. Interestingly, WBTV has confirmed Victor himself won’t be appearing in the show, so it’s not entirely clear in what capacity we will be meeting Nora – whether she will be walking and talking on-screen, or just floating around in a cryo-pod.

For those of you that don’t know the traditional background to the character, she is put into cryostasis by her scientist husband, Victor, when she is diagnosed as being terminally ill. An explosion in Victor’s lab damages Nora’s cryo-pod, apparently killing her, and turning the crazed scientist into Mr. Freeze.

There have been a few additions to her story, and some retconning during DC’s New 52 era. Pre-New 52, it transpires Nora didn’t die, and is eventually cured by a Wayne Enterprises scientist and remarries. In one story, she was resurrected by Nyssa al Ghul using a Lazarus Pit, but ends up absorbing the pit’s power, and becomes the supervillain, Lazara. Post-New 52, Nora is frozen in cryostasis by her parents during the 1960’s when she contracts an incurable illness. Years later, her cryo-pod ends up in the lab of Victor Fries at Wayne Enterprises, who becomes obsessed with her, believing her to be his wife. When Bruce Wayne terminates the project, Victor destroys the lab in a rage, which results in the accident turning him into Mr. Freeze.

Cassandra Jean Amell began her career competing on ‘America’s Next Top Model’. Her TV credits include guest-starring roles on ‘One Tree Hill’, ‘Hart of Dixie’ and ‘Mad Men’.

The FlashArrow‘, Supergirl‘ and (probably*) ‘Legends Of Tomorrow‘ return to Sky One in October 2018. The crossover episodes are expected to premiere in December.

*Legends returns late Oct with the other 3 shows return early Oct in the US. The information we currently have from Sky is that all 4 will be back in October, however, we might see Legends slip to November depending on the US scheduling breaks. We’ll let you know when we have exact dates.
